About Our Project

Medicare For All is a hotly debated topic among presidential candidates, and healthcare is a top-3 issue for the majority of American voters this election cycle. While Stacey and Jake may not be eyeing the political stage just yet, there is so much to talk about on this issue. Let’s talk about why we’ve created this podcast.

We were introduced to Single Payer health systems in Fall 2019.

We found ourselves in conversations about Medicare For All with friends, family, and colleagues, and we both quickly realized that neither of us really knew what it was; it seemed that everyone we spoke with had a slightly different understanding of it as well.

Even when speaking with our classmates who have quite a bit of healthcare experience and knowledge, we realized that we were not alone in our confusion.

So, our curiosity and lack of understanding about Medicare For All is really the reason for this podcast.

As you'll hear from one of our guests, "you can't be for or against Medicare for All until you know what it is." This is a core issue we aim to address with our podcast; we hope to better understand what Medicare For All means, what it looks like, and if it is right for the United States (and us).

As Masters in Public Health students at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Stacey and Jake are required to complete a "field practice experience" or practicum. This is our project.

This project serves three purposes. First, it satisfies our thirst for knowledge. Second, it serves as a learning tool for others. Third, it gives us an opportunity to step outside our comfort zones and try something new.
